Carers across Leicestershire can make a positive difference to their life and that of the person they care for by attending free Caring with Confidence sessions. The programme is designed to help carers safeguard their own health and well-being as well as build on their own strengths, share experiences and gain useful information about looking after someone and help them to decide how to make positive changes to their caring role.
Some are unaware that there is practical, financial and emotional support available to help them. The sessions help carers to decide what positive changes they could make to their lives. Carers can choose how many of the seven sessions to attend and all are encouraged to attend the introductory session Finding Your Way which looks ar what matters to carers and offers the chance to find out about the following sessions:
Caring and Coping
Caring and Me
Caring and Communicating Caring
Resources Caring
Day to Day Caring and Life
All the sessions are led by friendly, trained facilitators, many of whom are carers. A co-ordinator is always present to ensure the day runs smoothly and light refreshments are provided. Feedback from carers who attended the trial programmes has been really positive. 'I felt so much more uplifted after the sessions,' 'Made me realise I am not alone and there is help out there,' 'Really informative sessions at the right pace with lovely people,' 'Caring with Confidence has changed my life around.'
